Our School
Clan Velez Jiu-Jitsu was built on a simple mission: create a Jiu-Jitsu school where families connect, people feel supported, and the community grows stronger together.
Led by husband-and-wife team Miguel and Aimee Velez, our academy creates a safe, welcoming environment for students of every background. Parents love our kids and youth BJJ programs, professionals enjoy the stress relief and fitness benefits, and seniors appreciate our safe, mobility-focused training.
As an official Tap Cancer Out Ambassador Academy, we combine our passion for Jiu-Jitsu with community service and meaningful outreach—something that deeply resonates with families in Round Rock and Central Texas.
From seminars to seasonal martial arts camps, holiday events, and charity fundraisers, we help bring people together on and off the mats.
History
With more than 25 years of BJJ experience, Miguel began his journey in college at 19 years old and continued learning from some of the strongest Jiu-Jitsu instructors in Texas after graduation. His passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu eventually led him to build a school focused on high-level technique and strong community values.
Aimee began her journey in 2017, to set an example for their daughter to inspire confidence, strength, and leadership through action. Coming from a career in law, she brings purpose and empowerment to students, especially for girls and women interested in learning Jiu-Jitsu.
Together, they created Clan Velez Jiu-Jitsu, opening in early 2026 to serve Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Georgetown, and North Austin.

Our hybrid style blends traditional and modern BJJ, Judo, and wrestling to create a well-rounded, effective training experience. At Clan Velez, we offer top-rated Jiu-Jitsu classes for all ages, including:
- Kids BJJ training (ages 4–9)

A perfect introduction to martial arts for young children. These classes are tailored to the development process for this age group. They will grow and hone in on their motor skills, social interactions, confidence, comprehending instructions, respect, discipline, and anti-bully awareness. These valuable traits—on top of their foundational self-defense training—will help them grow on the mats and in life.
Designed for older youth and teens ready to learn more in depth Jiu-Jitsu. Your kids will learn more about positional lessons, technical skills, and sparring while learning the same off-the-mat traits. Larger discussions around Judo and Wrestling are introduced. Excellent for athletic development, confidence, and focus.
Adult Jiu-Jitsu is very similar to our younger classes. We teach the same skills on the mat with deeper conversations about Jiu-Jitsu and incorporations of Judo and Wrestling. Beginners and experienced grapplers alike will benefit from our technical, supportive, ego-free training environment. Great for:

A unique program focused on mobility, balance, health, and community connection. We make sure our seniors Jiu-Jitsu class is a safe, welcoming place to train. Our goal is for students to gain confidence in themselves physically while having fun and making new friends. A lot of what we work on in adult Jiu-Jitsu flows into this program.
Self-defense is one of our main focuses at Clan Velez Jiu-Jitsu and is incorporated into all our BJJ classes. We also present anti-bully workshops where you can learn more scenario based skills.
Seasonal six-week camps designed to help interested athletes prepare for BJJ tournaments with strategy, drilling, conditioning, and understanding the rules and scoring system. Highly recommended for those wanting to test their abilities at the next level against other practitioners.
